Announcing Come: a journaling journey through the life of Jesus

My newest devotional journal is now available!

As I was feeling the call on my heart to write this devotional journal, a single word kept coming to my mind: Come.

Jesus is saying, “Come.”

Whispering to the heart.

Beckoning to the soul.

Tugging at the spirit.

Like the tugging on your sleeve by a little one, a friend, a love. They have a huge grin on their face and they’re saying, “Come with me. I have something I want you to see, to experience, to be a part of.”

And you, you go with them, knowing the grin that’s already forming on your face is going to burst into an all-teeth-showing smile that spills over into laughter as you encounter what they’re bringing you to. You know there is something joyous and beautiful awaiting, if only you place your hand in theirs and let them lead you.

That’s what Jesus is doing. He’s tugging on our spirit-sleeve, saying, “Come. I’ve got something I want you to see, experience, and be a part of.”

Something joyous and beautiful is awaiting.

That something is life.

That something is life in Him.

That something is His very life flooding yours.

In John 10:10, Jesus says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

There is so much that attempts to steal, kill, and destroy true life. Pride, worry, fear, jealousy, insecurities, selfishness, bitterness.

But Jesus has come to bring abundant life. He has conquered death, and the sin that causes death, and so true life is found in Him. He has come, and now He says to each of us, “Come, follow me. Come you who are hungry and thirsty, and I will satisfy completely. Come you who are weary, and I will give you rest. Come to Me.”

This call to us to come is a beckoning to relationship with Jesus. To a vibrant, dynamic, adventurous, intimate relationship. It is only in relationship with Jesus that we are really living. For Jesus is life.

I desire for Jesus to be my very life. I desire to proclaim the words of Philippians 1:21, “For to me, to live is Christ.” I desire to proclaim the words of Galatians 2:20, “I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”

Jesus being not just a part of my life, but being my very life. My agenda, my pride, my selfishness being laid aside, and His life flooding my lungs and pumping through my veins, defining who I am, unveiling the real me, and directing how I think and act.

For Jesus loves me. He desires a relationship with me. He created me beautiful. He rejoices over me and delights in me. He accepts me and makes me whole. He has a purpose for me.

And the same goes for you.

So let us together respond to His calling. Let us place our hands in His and let Him lead us into ever deepening relationship with Himself.

Come contains 24 devotions that include Scripture readings from the life of Jesus, questions for diving into the Word, and a short teaching that I have written from God’s Word, with a focus on Jesus’ character and His interactions with people. With journaling pages, options for further study, and plenty of white space for creative reflection, you can really make this journey your own.
My prayer is that each person who uses this devotional journal would enter into Jesus presence, and experience His life in our everyday lives through His love for us, through His growing and teaching us, through His empowering us by His Spirit, through His guiding us in truth and peace, and through the hope, joy, and grace He gives.

So, Come.
